Guillard's Twentieth!

Hihi. Naaaliw lang talaga ako sa pagkakakuha ko ng picture na ito. Ang genuine ng ngiti. Hahahaha. =)))
Dinner at Gumbo sa SM Mega. Sakto sa Mega F%D Sale ang birthday niya, kaya uber busog kami - buy one take one na malaking slice ng strawberry choco cheesecake, at free seafood jambalaya. :)

I Love Bo Sanchez' Words This Morning on our Radio

Every Sunday my father tunes in to a radio station to hear Bo Sanchez' teachings. :)

For this Sunday:

We judge, condemn, categorize or label people quickly because we think we know all the facts, but actually we do not know: 1) the external facts — there are a million angles and perspectives in a person’s situation which we do not know about; 2) the internal facts — we must not judge a person because we do not know what is happening within him, and 3) the spiritual fact that we’ve been accepted by God despite our weaknesses.

I've read this somewhere already, perhaps from one of his posts, and it has always been the reason I always try to give the benefit of the doubt whenever I start to conclude something negatively (minsan nga lang, late). Actually, ito rin ang isang lesson sa Guidance subject ko nung high school na hindi ko malilimutan.

But sometimes, I can't help myself.

Baka may inasikasong biglaan at mahalaga.

Pambihira naman ang kotse na 'yun! May-ari ng kalsada?
Hindi ko naiisip kaagad, baka may emergency kaya nagmamadali 'yung kotse.
Baka may isusugod siya sa ospital.

Sigh.

Tinkering with Android: Hello, Android! Ü

Oh yes! Finally, I said hello to Android. Haha. :)
In my last post, I thought I was doing something wrong that's why I don't see the Hello, Android app working.

Thank you so much to this post from anddev.org, I finally realized that I just have to play around with the emulator much like anyone would do with the real Android phone. Hahahaha. I'm such an ignoramus. >.<

So here's what I did:
Wait for this loading screen to finish.
Tried clicking around this screen until I happened to...

Tinkering with Android: Help Wanted

I am attempting to study programming in android.
But as early as the Hello World app, I am already stumped. >.<

After following the installation instructions for the Android SDK (I installed Android 3.2 API Level 13), and ADT Plugin for Eclipse (my version's Helios), I then proceeded to the HelloWorld app tutorial.

The first time I run it, I got this from Eclipse console:

[2011-09-17 13:28:46 - Emulator] invalid command-line parameter: Files\Android\android-sdk\tools/emulator-arm.exe.
[2011-09-17 13:28:46 - Emulator] Hint: use '@foo' to launch a virtual device named 'foo'.
[2011-09-17 13:28:46 - Emulator] please use -help for more information

Apparently, the android sdk has a bug for paths which includes spaces. >.< My sdk is installed in "F:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\". So I manually changed the path from Eclipse in Window->Preferences->Android to "F:\PROGRA~1\Android\android-sdk\".

However, there is another problem:
[2011-09-17 13:58:23 - HelloAndroid] Automatic Target Mode: Preferred AVD 'my_avd' is not available. Launching new emulator.
[2011-09-17 13:58:23 - HelloAndroid] Launching a new emulator with Virtual Device 'my_avd'
[2011-09-17 13:58:55 - HelloAndroid] New emulator found: emulator-5554
[2011-09-17 13:58:55 - HelloAndroid] Waiting for HOME ('android.process.acore') to be launched...
[2011-09-17 14:00:14 - HelloAndroid] emulator-5554 disconnected! Cancelling 'com.example.helloandroid.HelloAndroid activity launch'!

So I tried uninstalling EVERYTHING and reinstalling EVERYTHING. T_T And this took almost like forever. T_T

Avril Lavigne: Wish You Were Here

~I can be tough, I can be strong
But with you, it's not like that at all..~

Avril Lavigne is the first singer I went crazy with back during my high school days. I can still remember myself religiously copying and memorizing ALL the lyrics of the songs from her first album (generously given to me by Margot as a gift, and she has since supplied me with the rest of Avril's album until I got myself a job, haha.), Let Go, so that the lyric sheet (is that how you call it? XD) that comes with it would not get too creased. We actually got our barkada's theme song from that album - Anything But Ordinary. It goes like ~I'd rather be ehh-ni-thhhing but ooordinaaarii, please~ Haha, as if you can hear it. =))

Avril really went beyond the ordinary pop-rock singer when she surprised all her fans with the release of her third album, The Best Damn Thing. I was like, 'What happened to her?? What's with the pink-color-themed album?? And there are sexy songs! How will I sing them out loud like her other songs??' XD But being a fan I still memorized them all. My favorites from these album include Keep Holding On (used as the OST for the film, Eragon), When You're Gone, Runaway, and Innocence.

Mr. Slint's Foreign Affair

Mr. Slint's Foreign AffairMr. Slint's Foreign Affair by Carlo N. Samson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jardeth Slint never wanted to be a diplomat, so he was stunned to find out that the application he filled out (at his mother's suggestion) led to him actually getting the job!

Now, on a steamy Drevonian island, he goes to the Governor's Palace to complete his first mission. What happens there completely changes his life!

I stumbled upon this e-book on getfreeebooks. It is included in 6 Free Fantasy & Science Fiction Ebooks pack and downloadable at various formats. :)

It is very apt for anyone who wanted to take a break from all the hard reading he did -
quite amusing and very easy to understand! :) It discusses slavery, "cultural" beliefs, and how much compassion could actually put one's life at greater risks but at a more satisfying experience. :)
